In 1880 Alluvial Gold was discovered by Canadian Henry Williams in shingle on the beach seven kilometres north of Bermagui. The Rush was on!
Within three weeks, 2000 miners were on the field. Where did they come from? How did they get here? What did they find? And how did this huge influx of single-minded and determined prospectors live, work and sort out their differences in such harsh conditions?

The 300m of boardwalks and compacted pathways meanders past shafts that have been fenced off or covered so you can look down them in safety. There are many restful benches along the way. The tour takes about 1¼ hours and toilet facilities are available.

It is recommended that tour participants wear walking shoes, long sleeves, long trousers and a wide brimmed hat, and carry a drink bottle. Drinks, ice creams, food etc are available at the Wallaga Lake Holiday Park Kiosk at the entrance to the Goldfield.
